Can Chef's Read The Future?

So i was watchin' Restaurant Makeover in AFC right, so it was the part when they we're cooking, if you seen the show, you'll know that the owner of the restaurant cooks first to give taste to the chef, so here's what bothers me, the chef knew right from the moment that the owner starts to cook that he won't eat it, like some magical way he knows that the food isn't good to eat, what's up with that? is that just screwed up or cool, i mean, i'm 95% sure that he's right, then again he is a chef, the chef was that bald guy who wears spectacles and has long mustache, weirdly he reminds me of Mr. Potato.

Anyway, that really opened my eyes on what chef could really do, i mean firstly they know when food is good or not, but secondly, they can imagine all different kinds of taste and put it in some food and make it delicious, i don't know, but i think that's the definition of a real chef i guess, trying to alter the ingredients of the food to try make something new or better.

Yeah, but the not eating part is just seem rude to me, i mean people cooked for you and you don't eat it, i think that's offensive, just imagine what the person is going through, i haven't really gave much though into being a chef, but seeing what they can do with their eyes, they're senses of smell, their taste buds in their tongue, man those people can imagine things, sure i love cooking, but only when it's not me, and only when i see other people cook or maybe in the television, i can't cook, i've tried, plenty of times, and most of the times i come up with burned fried rice or unsalted fried rice, the only thing i'm proud with my cooking ability is to be able to cook instant noodles with hot water, but everyone can do that.

Anyway speaking of Futures, i'm currently watching Psych, what's Psych, well it's about these 2 dude who were childhood best friends, and as they grow up, they happened to be a fake psychic detective to the Santa Barbara Police Department or SBPD, it's a really good show, it's hilarious, it's creative, but mostly it's humorous. I'm onto season 5 right now, they're gonna release season 6 this year or maybe next year i don't know, this show is actually from USA network channel, i mean it's really rare to like shows from their channel but it's really good, while most people prefer shows NBC, ABC, CBS, or maybe The CW, but the CW is mainly for teens. If you've seen Monk, the chances of you liking the show is high.

  1. First of all, a chef or most of the peoples eat with their eyes first. If the presentation is crappy, people lost their appetite.

Secondly, a chef mean someone who cooks everyday, 10 hours per day. So, a chef can know all of the flavour of the ingredient. A chef can know what + what = delicacy & what + what = disaster.

And as a chef, chef must have a very good imagination. Because a chef have to keep creating a new dish for the market. So, when a chef look at the way how someone cook or the ingredients used, a chef can know how the taste should taste like.

So, a chef can be considered as a futurist because once a chef saw a flaw at the beginning, a chef can know the whole dish is rubbish.

It is okay the chef not eat the owner's food than the chef throw the food into the rubbish bin & starts cursing.

  2. Can you do that? like predict if the food is good or not from the start, and is it like every chef could do it or just some and the others need to learn how to predict, anyway thanks for commenting.

  3. I can do that. By looking at the ingredients & the method of cooking of a dish, I can predict how the taste should tastes like & how the look should looks like.

And I don't agree that every chef can do that because not every chef have good imagination power & experience. This is all depends on how well you know an ingredients such as the flavour, the smell, the colour, and the characteristic of it.
